The National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the commencement of Postgraduate Degree programmes at Bells University of Technology, Ota in 2013, having satisfied the requirements of the NUC.

The Postgraduate School was however, established with the mandate to organize and facilitate teaching and research studies through prescribed University programmes . Hence, postgraduate studies for Diploma (PGD) and Masters degrees began in 2013/2014 Academic Session. Furthermore, in February 2015, approval was given by the NUC for the commencement of postgraduate degree programmes in the College of Management Sciences. Consequently, new postgraduate programmes including Master of Business Administration (MBA) and M.Sc. degree programmes in Management Sciences commenced in the 204/2015 Academic Session.

In keeping with the University Mandate, the Postgraduate School of Bells University of Technology, Ota has the following objectives:

  • To serve as an advocate for postgraduate education within and outside the University;
  • To establish both policies and procedures for graduate-level learning of the highest quality.
  • To foster and facilitate interdisciplinary/intercollegiate Postgraduate Programmes and research activities.
  • To initiate and maintain an intellectual environment that values and supports creative, scholarly and scientific inquiry; and
  • To serve the nation’s call for a well-educated and professionally trained work force.

The Postgraduate Schools has a Board which is responsible to the Senate for ensuring high quality postgraduate programmes in the University.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into postgraduate programmes.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The criteria for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma in Business (PGDBA) programme are as follows:

  •  All candidates must have five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level, as a basic requirement.
  • Holders of Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines with a minimum of Third class division from a recognized University are eligible for admission.
  • Holders of HND in relevant disciplines with a minimum of Lower Credit from a recognized institution are also eligible for admission.
  • Holders of relevant equivalent professional qualifications may also be considered
  • Candidates with passes in relevant degrees plus five years’ managerial experience may also be considered.

The criteria for admission into Part-Time Master in Business Administration programme are as   follows:

  • All candidates must have five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level, as a basic requirement.
  • Candidates must, in addition to the basic requirements possess a bachelor’s degree from Bells University of Technology, in Social Sciences/Management or numerate disciplines like Engineering, Mathematics and Pure Sciences, and Health Sciences or any other an approved University, with a minimum of second class lower division
  • Candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant disciplines from a recognized University and who have passed with a minimum of lower credit may also be considered for admission, provided Bells (basic) matriculation requirements are satisfied.
  • Holders of HND in any discipline with a minimum of Lower Credit Plus Postgraduate Diploma in Social Sciences or numerate disciplines from a recognized University are also eligible for admission.
  • Holders of professional qualifications from relevant professional bodies that are chartered by the Federal Government of Nigeria such as ICAN, CIBN, CILPAN, ANAN, NIM, CIPSMN CIN, NIMARK CIPM (IPMA Professional part 2 certificate), CILT, etc.,
  • Holders of HND Distinction/Upper or Third Class degree in any relevant discipline plus five years’ experience at the managerial level may also be considered.

Graduation Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA)

To be eligible for the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA), the candidates must satisfactorily and complete the course work and pass all the prescribed examinations and the candidate must also carry out an approved research project relevant to the area of specialization.

Master Business Administration (MBA)

To qualify for the award of an MBA Degree from the Department of Business Administration, a candidate must take and pass courses totalling 72 units, made up of 36 units of core courses, 18 units of elective courses and 6 units of thesis in the area of specialization. Entrepreneurship 3 credits (units) and other 3.

Specialization-specific courses of 9 credits (units) , 18 units.  The minimum number of years for graduation is 4 academic semesters.
